lols today for a chem lesson by me! =.=
first for acids.. they ionise/dissociate( chim words but mus bei) in water to produce hydrogen ions. h+ ions.
to determine whether they are strong or weak is the concentration of h+ ions produced. more h+ ions= stronger acid.
Thats y litmus paper must be moist to test for acids. wow. ok den go memorise the acid properties.
sour taste--> lemon
turn blue litmus red.
so acids got 3 reactions.
acid+metal--> salt + hydrogen
acid + CARbonate--> salt + CARbon dioxide + water
acid + alkai --> salt+ water
alkali is..... metal oxides and hyrdoxides
USES OF ACIDS--> jus read through no nid memorise too much.
FOR>>>>>>alkalis.
got 2 reactions
alkali + acid --> neutralisation= salt +water look up there ^^
alkali + AMMonium salts (ammonium sulphate. blabla) -->AMMonia gas+ water + salt
alkali-> soapy feel ( the dove advertisements)
bitter-->> go taste lor. =.=
produce hydroxide ions in water for acids is produce h+(hydrogen ions) alkalis is OH-(oxides or hydroxides)
OOPS got 1 more go read pg 178. =P
then rmb universal indicator colour thru rainbow color. hong cheng huang lv lan dian zi =.=
read 183..
TYPES OF OXIDES.
shyt so many space.
ok non-metal oxides eg. carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide carbon and sulphur= non metals so they are acidic oxides. ACIDIC DE.
VICE VERSA. metal oxides= basic oxides. ALKALI DE.
BUTBUT. got some oxides is both. AMPHOTERIC oxides <-- chim words. is both alkali and acidic... rmb these few. aluminium, zinc, lead(2)
den got NEUTRAL OXIDES neither basic nor acidic. go memorise some examples. CO, H2O, NO
